Scholarship Selection Process
HHOPS annually offers scholarships to former Holy Hill Area School District students that are graduating from Hartford Union High School. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide graduating students with financial assistance to the college or technical school of their choice and to recognize and acknowledge their achievements as exemplary, well-rounded students.
APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY
The following guidelines must be met at the time of application for a student to be considered for a HHOPS scholarship:
- Student must have graduated eighth grade from Richfield Middle School.
- Student must be enrolled in his/her senior year of high school at Hartford Union High School with projected graduation by June 30th of the year of application.
- Student must be able to demonstrate acceptance at a two or four-year university/college/technical college
- Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.2
- Student must complete all sections of the Scholarship Application.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications are available on the Holy Hill Area School District website. The deadline for returning completed applications is March 31st with winners announced May 13th at the District School Board meeting. Students are requested to complete information about their post-secondary education plans, high school extra-curricular activities, out of school activities, volunteer activities, and paid employment. All requested information pertains to the student's high school years. Students are required to solicit two (2) letters of recommendation. One must be from a current teacher; the other should be any non-related adult. Students will be requested to upload a picture of themselves to be used at the awards ceremony, if selected.
EVALUATION PROCESS
The philosophy of the HHOPS Board in awarding scholarships is to identify those students who excel in all aspects of their academic, volunteer and extra-curricular activities. Consideration will be given to the level of completeness of all sections of the application. HHOPS will evaluate all applications received by the deadline.
