RMS Activities

Chess Club is open to all students; no previous experience is needed! 

Chess Club will meet after school from 3:30pm - 4:30pm in the library.  See the permission slip or website calendar for specific dates.

A club that allows students the opportunity to stay after school to work on homework, projects and/or to study independently or with others.  Advisors can also help students with overall organization skills.

The club meets Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-4:45pm, unless otherwise noted.

MathCounts is offered to students in 6th - 8th grade based on classwork, teacher recommendation and consistent high performance on FAST testing.  Students are invited to participate and then their decision to participate is voluntary.  6th grade students meet once a week all year.  7th and 8th grade students meet once a week through the Chapter competition in February, each year.

6th Grade - Richfield Middle Schools partners with The National MathClub to provide programming for students who show exceptional promise in math.  It gives students an opportunity to engage in math in a non-competitive, social environment.  In addition, it prepares them for the 7th/8th grade competitive club.

7th/8th Grade - Richfield Middle School partners with MathCounts Competition Series to provide programming for students who show exceptional promise in math.  Students compete in live contests against and alongside their peers from school, chapter, state, and national levels.  A practice round is held at school in December and then compete against schools in our chapter, in February, at UW-Milwaukee.

Meetings will be held every other Thursday from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.  Meeting dates are listed on the permission slip and in ParentSquare.

Ski & Snowboarding Club is for 2nd-8th grade students and their families. There are several options for participation:

Skiing or Snowboarding
Self-Paced Beginner lessons - Offered from 4:30pm - 7:00pm.  Anyone ages 7-17 may join the lessons stations (whether you are new or just want to refresh your skills)
Beyond the Basics Lessons - Offered during weeks 3 & 4 as a 1-hour lesson each week; total $20
Equipment rental
Loyalty Cards! - Each member will receive a loyalty card that is good for 4 additional visits to the ski hill at a discounted rate ($29 for lift ticket only or $49 for lift ticket and rental)
The Club will be heading to Little Switzerland on 2 evenings during 4 consecutive weeks in January, 4:30 - 8pm.  Check-in begins at 4:15pm and Check-out by 7:50pm so everyone leaves on time. You will need to pick which Club Day to attend (no switching between the days). Transportation is not provided.

The 4-day package is non-refundable for dates not used. There are no make-up dates for missed days. The only exception is if the ski hill is closed or the school closes for extreme weather conditions, at which point the club will attend the week following the last scheduled session.

7th and 8th grade girls can participate in basketball which is split into two seasons: Fall (Sept. - Oct.) and Winter (Nov.-Feb.). Students can participate in one or both seasons and must comply with the qualifications set forth in the co-curricular handbook. 

Practices are held after school from 3:30pm - 5:00pm. Practice and game schedules are listed on the permission slip and in ParentSquare.

Cross Country is open to all students in 5th through 8th grade.  Students who would like to run must comply with the qualifications set forth in the co-curricular handbook.  Athletes will run between 1.25 to 2 miles.

Practices are held after school from 3:30pm - 4:30pm at either Pioneer Bowl or Heritage Park.  Meets begin at 4pm and locations will be communicated as they are set.  Practice and game schedules are listed on the permission slip.

Intramural Flag Football is a 5 on 5 league open to all students in 5th through 8th grade.  Students who would like to participate must comply with the qualifications set forth in the co-curricular handbook.  Athletes will be divided into teams and given a specific schedule of games.  Several games will be played each day.

Practices are held after school from 3:30pm - 5:00pm at Richfield Middle School.

Intramural volleyball is open to all students in 5th through 8th grade.  All skill sets, from beginner to advanced are welcome to join.  Students who would like to participate must comply with the qualifications set forth in the co-curricular handbook.  

Once permission slips and fees are turned in, students will be placed on a team.  Students will not play on all scheduled dates.  They will only play when the team they are assigned to is scheduled to play.  A detailed scheduled will be shared prior to the first date of play.

The winter basketball season runs from November to mid/end of February.  Players will play in the Fond du Lac Area Basketball League (13 teams). Games are played on Saturdays and teams will practice approximately 2x per week.
