Dear HHASD Families,
Happy New Year!!! We hope your winter break includes moments of rest, connection, and joy. As we welcome students back and step into 2026 together, we’re excited to continue our shared work of helping every child Inspire. Persevere. Grow.
As we begin the new year, we are continuing our district-wide theme focus on Perseverance, which has guided our work throughout the 2025–26 school year. January offers a natural moment to reflect and recommit as students settle back into routines and take on learning that may feel more challenging at times. In classrooms across Friess Lake Elementary and Richfield Middle School, you will hear staff highlighting perseverance through:
- Using “yet” language (for example, “I can’t do it yet”)
- Goal setting and reflection
- Celebrating effort, strategy, and progress, not just the final score
If you would like to reinforce this at home, a simple question that goes a long way is: What was something you had to work at this week and what helped you keep going?
As we move through January, our focus will be on:
- Re-establishing routines that help students feel ready to learn
- Continuing strong instruction and support, including targeted intervention time
- Using mid-year learning data to plan next steps and ensure every student continues to grow
Winter months can bring shifting schedules and weather and we appreciate your partnership in helping students arrive ready for each day. If your child or your family needs support academically, socially, or emotionally, please do not hesitate to reach out. We believe strongly in working together early and often. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. We are grateful for the trust you place in us and look forward to continued growth together!
Together We Can,
Dr. Katy Williams
